Welcome to Thrive Pilates

Pilates is suitable for everybody - from complete beginners to those recovering from physical injury, new mums, athletes and those just wanting to stay fit and healthy.

From our two studios based in Thrive Gym, Bolton, we offer both reformer and mat classes.  In fact we are the only pilates studio in the Bolton & Bury area that offers reformer classes.

Thrive Pilates is owned and managed by Anne Marie Robinson - who trained in Los Angeles - the reformer capital of the world -   

Whatever your level of fitness, there is a class to suit you, with no more than five in a reformer class, or nine in a mat class, you are guaranteed our personal attention.

For a more private service - we are also able to offer one-to-one sessions.  Great for introducing you to pilates, or for that more bespoke service.

Studio - 1

Bolton & Bury's largest Pilates Reformer Studio

The 'Reformer' is a specialised piece of equipment it has a unique combination of sliding carriages, springs and straps.

 

All kinds of exercises are done on the reformer to promote length , strength , flexibility and balance.

 

You will use your Centre 'Powerhouse' to move your body weight as well as the reformer spring loaded carriage.

 

In the class you will lie, sit, kneel and stand therefore stretching, extending the body completely and accessing a full range of movement.

 

It develops balance, co-ordination and creates a strength effect on the entire body and not just isolated muscle groups. The result of the workout is a uniformaly developed body with strong back and abdominal muscles.

In other words , the reformer can train many parts and dynamics of the body in so many different ways with just one relatively sleek piece of equipment !

Studio - 2

Pilates Mat Classes

Mat classes are performed on the Mat, improving core control, co-ordinaion, standing alignment and balance.

 

These exrcises are performed seated or lying down on your back, side or front. Assistive tools such as balls, magic circles, exercise bands and rollers can be incorporated to assist or create a challenge.

 

These exercises are the foundation of the Pilates Method and require the use of your own body strength and focus on the 'Core' and 'Powerhouse'.
